বৃদ্ধা নারী, যারা বিবাহের আশা রাখে না, যদি তারা তাদের সৌন্দর্যø প্রকাশ না করে তাদের বস্ত্র খুলে রাখে। তাদের জন্যে দোষ নেই, তবে এ থেকে বিরত থাকাই তাদের জন্যে উত্তম। আল্লাহ সর্বশ্রোতা, সর্বজ্ঞ।
And as for women past child-bearing who do not expect wed-lock, it is no sin on them if they discard their (outer) clothing in such a way as not to show their adornment. But to refrain (i.e. not to discard their outer clothing) is better for them. And Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower.
وَالْقَوَاعِدُ مِنَ النِّسَاء اللَّاتِي لَا يَرْجُونَ نِكَاحًا فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِنَّ جُنَاحٌ أَن يَضَعْنَ ثِيَابَهُنَّ غَيْرَ مُتَبَرِّجَاتٍ بِزِينَةٍ وَأَن يَسْتَعْفِفْنَ خَيْرٌ لَّهُنَّ وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
WaalqawaAAidu mina alnnisa-i allatee la yarjoona nikahan falaysa AAalayhinna junahun an yadaAAna thiyabahunna ghayra mutabarrijatin bizeenatin waan yastaAAfifna khayrun lahunna waAllahu sameeAAun AAaleemun
YUSUFALI: Such elderly women as are past the prospect of marriage,- there is no blame on them if they lay aside their (outer) garments, provided they make not a wanton display of their beauty: but it is best for them to be modest: and Allah is One Who sees and knows all things.
PICKTHAL: As for women past child-bearing, who have no hope of marriage, it is no sin for them if they discard their (outer) clothing in such a way as not to show adornment. But to refrain is better for them. Allah is Hearer, Knower.
SHAKIR: And (as for) women advanced in years who do not hope for a marriage, it is no sin for them if they put off their clothes without displaying their ornaments; and if they restrain themselves it is better for them; and Allah is Hearing, Knowing.
KHALIFA: The elderly women who do not expect to get married commit nothing wrong by relaxing their dress code, provided they do not reveal too much of their bodies. To maintain modesty is better for them. GOD is Hearer, Knower.
৬০। বয়ষ্ক নারী ৩০৪০ , যারা বিবাহের আশা রাখে না, তাদের কোন অপরাধ নাই , যদি তারা তাদের সৌন্দর্য প্রকাশ না করে তাদের [ বর্হিবাস ] পোষাক খুলে রাখে। তবে লজ্জ্বাশীল হওয়াই তাদের জন্য উত্তম। আল্লাহ্-ই সব দেখেন সব জানেন ৩০৪১।
৩০৪০। বয়স্ক মহিলা যাদের রূপ যৌবন অতিক্রান্ত হয়েছে, বিবাহের বয়েস অতিক্রান্ত হয়েছে , অর্থাৎ পুরুষের কুদৃষ্টির প্রভাব মুক্ত ,তাদের জন্য পর্দ্দার প্রয়োজনীয়তা নাই। তারা বাইরে যাওয়ার সময়ে তাদের বর্হিবাস খুলে রাখতে পারে। বোরখা বা চাদরের ব্যাপারটি তরুণী ও যুবতীদের জন্য করা হয়েছে এই জন্য যে ,এতে তারা পুরুষের কুদৃষ্টি থেকে নিজেকে রক্ষা করতে পারবে। ইসলামে পর্দ্দা প্রথার বিরুদ্ধে বহু প্রচার আছে। কিন্তু পক্ষপাতশূন্য ভাবে বিচার করলে দেখা যাবে যে বর্হিবিশ্বের কাজে অংশ গ্রহণে তরুণীদের প্রধান অন্তরায় হচ্ছে তাদের রূপ ও যৌবন। পুরুষের কুদৃষ্টি থেকে রূপ ও যৌবনকে ঢেকে রাখলে এই বিপদ থেকে রক্ষা পেতে পারে। পর্দ্দা প্রথার প্রধান উদ্দেশ্যই হচ্ছে মেয়েদের নিরাপত্তা।
৩০৪১। “আল্লাহ্ সব দেখেন , সব জানেন ” এই লাইনটি গানের ধূয়ার মত বারে বারে পুণরাবৃত্তি করা হয়েছে। আয়াত ৫৮ ও ৫৯ এর বিষয় বস্তু প্রায় একই রকম। সুতারাং তাদের শেষ লাইনটি একই ধূয়া দ্বারা শেষ করা হয়েছে। এই আয়াতটি [ ৬০ ] যদিও পূর্ববর্তী আয়াতের সাথে সম্পর্কযুক্ত তবুও সম্পূর্ণ এক নয়। সুতারাং শেষ লাইনটিতে সামান্য পরিবর্তন লক্ষ্য করা যায়।
