তোমাদের নিরর্থক শপথের জন্য আল্লাহ তোমাদেরকে ধরবেন না, কিন্তু সেসব কসমের ব্যাপারে ধরবেন, তোমাদের মন যার প্রতিজ্ঞা করেছে। আর আল্লাহ হচ্ছেন ক্ষমাকারী ধৈর্য্যশীল।
Allâh will not call you to account for that which is unintentional in your oaths, but He will call you to account for that which your hearts have earned. And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Forbearing.
لاَّ يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ اللّهُ بِاللَّغْوِ فِيَ أَيْمَانِكُمْ وَلَكِن يُؤَاخِذُكُم بِمَا كَسَبَتْ قُلُوبُكُمْ وَاللّهُ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٌ
La yu-akhithukumu Allahu biallaghwi fee aymanikum walakin yu-akhithukum bima kasabat quloobukum waAllahu ghafoorun haleemun
YUSUFALI: Allah will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts; and He is Oft-forgiving, Most Forbearing.
PICKTHAL: Allah will not take you to task for that which is unintentional in your oaths. But He will take you to task for that which your hearts have garnered. Allah is Forgiving, Clement.
SHAKIR: Allah does not call you to account for what is vain in your oaths, but He will call you to account for what your hearts have earned, and Allah is Forgiving, Forbearing.
KHALIFA: GOD does not hold you responsible for the mere utterance of oaths; He holds you responsible for your innermost intentions. GOD is Forgiver, Clement.
২২৫। তোমাদের অর্থহীন শপথের জন্য আল্লাহ্ তোমাদের দায়ী করবেন না। কিন্তু তোমাদের অন্তরের সংকল্পের [নিয়তের] জন্য [দায়ী করবেন] ২৫২। এবং তিনি বারে বারে ক্ষমাশীল ও ধৈর্য্যশীল।
২৫২। এখানে বলা হয়েছে, যে শপথের পিছনে কোন উদ্দেশ্য নাই; রাগ, অভিমান বা আবেগ দ্বারা পরিচালিত কোনও শপথের জন্য আল্লাহ্ বান্দাকে দায়ী করবেন না। আল্লাহ্ বান্দাকে তার নিয়ত দ্বারা বিচার করবেন। যদি শপথ হয় তার অন্তরের ইচ্ছা তবেই আল্লাহ্র কাছে তা বিচার্য্য। উদ্দেশ্যবিহীন শপথের জন্য প্রায়শ্চিত্ত স্বরূপ কিছু দান করা প্রয়োজন।
