ঊর্ধ্বং গচ্ছন্তি সত্ত্বস্থা মধ্যে তিষ্ঠন্তি রাজসাঃ ।
জঘন্যগুণবৃত্তিস্থা অধো গচ্ছন্তি তামসাঃ ॥ ১৪-১৮॥

ঊর্ধ্বং = upwards
গচ্ছন্তি = go
সত্ত্বস্থাঃ = those situated in the mode of goodness
মধ্যে = in the middle
তিষ্ঠন্তি = dwell
রাজসাঃ = those situated in the mode of passion
জঘন্য = of abominable
গুণ = quality
বৃত্তিস্থাঃ = whose occupation
অধঃ = down
গচ্ছন্তি = go
তামসাঃ = persons in the mode of ignorance.
