অগ্নির্জ্যোতিরহঃ শুক্লঃ ষণ্মাসা উত্তরায়ণম্ ।
তত্র প্রয়াতা গচ্ছন্তি ব্রহ্ম ব্রহ্মবিদো জনাঃ ॥ ৮-২৪॥

অগ্নিঃ = fire
জ্যোতিঃ = light
অহঃ = day
শুক্লঃ = the white fortnight
ষণ্মাসাঃ = the six months
উত্তরায়ণং = when the sun passes on the northern side
তত্র = there
প্রয়াতাঃ = those who pass away
গচ্ছন্তি = go
ব্রহ্ম = to the Absolute
ব্রহ্মবিদঃ = who know the Absolute
জনাঃ = persons.
