আপনার পালনকর্তা জানেন, আপনি এবাদতের জন্যে দন্ডায়মান হন রাত্রির প্রায় দু’তৃতীয়াংশ, অর্ধাংশ ও তৃতীয়াংশ এবং আপনার সঙ্গীদের একটি দলও দন্ডায়মান হয়। আল্লাহ দিবা ও রাত্রি পরিমাপ করেন। তিনি জানেন, তোমরা এর পূর্ণ হিসাব রাখতে পার না। অতএব তিনি তোমাদের প্রতি ক্ষমা পরায়ন হয়েছেন। কাজেই কোরআনের যতটুকু তোমাদের জন্যে সহজ, ততটুকু আবৃত্তি কর। তিনি জানেন তোমাদের মধ্যে কেউ কেউ অসুস্থ হবে, কেউ কেউ আল্লাহর অনুগ্রহ সন্ধানে দেশে-বিদেশে যাবে এবং কেউ কেউ আল্লাহর পথে জেহাদে লিপ্ত হবে। কাজেই কোরআনের যতটুকু তোমাদের জন্যে সহজ ততটুকু আবৃত্তি কর। তোমরা নামায কায়েম কর, যাকাত দাও এবং আল্লাহকে উত্তম ঋণ দাও। তোমরা নিজেদের জন্যে যা কিছু অগ্রে পাঠাবে, তা আল্লাহর কাছে উত্তম আকারে এবং পুরস্কার হিসেবে বর্ধিতরূপে পাবে। তোমরা আল্লাহর কাছে ক্ষমাপ্রার্থনা কর। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ ক্ষমাশীল, দয়ালু।
Verily, your Lord knows that you do stand (to pray at night) a little less than two-thirds of the night, or half the night, or a third of the night, and so do a party of those with you, And Allâh measures the night and the day. He knows that you are unable to pray the whole night, so He has turned to you (in mercy). So, recite you of the Qur’ân as much as may be easy for you. He knows that there will be some among you sick, others travelling through the land, seeking of Allâh’s Bounty; yet others fighting in Allâh’s Cause. So recite as much of the Qur’ân as may be easy (for you), and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât) and give Zakât, and lend to Allâh a goodly loan, and whatever good you send before you for yourselves, (i.e. Nawâfil non-obligatory acts of worship: prayers, charity, fasting, Hajj and ’Umrah, etc.), you will certainly find it with Allâh, better and greater in reward. And seek Forgiveness of Allâh. Verily, Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَقُومُ أَدْنَى مِن ثُلُثَيِ اللَّيْلِ وَنِصْفَهُ وَثُلُثَهُ وَطَائِفَةٌ مِّنَ الَّذِينَ مَعَكَ وَاللَّهُ يُقَدِّرُ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ عَلِمَ أَن لَّن تُحْصُوهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَاقْرَؤُوا مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ عَلِمَ أَن سَيَكُونُ مِنكُم مَّرْضَى وَآخَرُونَ يَضْرِبُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ يَبْتَغُونَ مِن فَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَآخَرُونَ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَاقْرَؤُوا مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَأَقْرِضُوا اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا وَمَا تُقَدِّمُوا لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ اللَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرًا وَأَعْظَمَ أَجْرًا وَاسْتَغْفِرُوا اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Inna rabbaka yaAAlamu annaka taqoomu adna min thuluthayi allayli wanisfahu wathuluthahu wata-ifatun mina allatheena maAAaka waAllahu yuqaddiru allayla waalnnahara AAalima an lan tuhsoohu fataba AAalaykum faiqraoo ma tayassara mina alqur-ani AAalima an sayakoonu minkum marda waakharoona yadriboona fee al-ardi yabtaghoona min fadli Allahi waakharoona yuqatiloona fee sabeeli Allahi faiqraoo ma tayassara minhu waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata waaqridoo Allaha qardan hasanan wama tuqaddimoo li-anfusikum min khayrin tajidoohu AAinda Allahi huwa khayran waaAAthama ajran waistaghfiroo Allaha inna Allaha ghafoorun raheemun
YUSUFALI: Thy Lord doth know that thou standest forth (to prayer) nigh two-thirds of the night, or half the night, or a third of the night, and so doth a party of those with thee. But Allah doth appoint night and day in due measure He knoweth that ye are unable to keep count thereof. So He hath turned to you (in mercy): read ye, therefore, of the Qur’an as much as may be easy for you. He knoweth that there may be (some) among you in ill-health; others travelling through the land, seeking of Allah’s bounty; yet others fighting in Allah’s Cause, read ye, therefore, as much of the Qur’an as may be easy (for you); and establish regular Prayer and give regular Charity; and loan to Allah a Beautiful Loan. And whatever good ye send forth for your souls ye shall find it in Allah’s Presence,- yea, better and greater, in Reward and seek ye the Grace of Allah: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
PICKTHAL: Lo! thy Lord knoweth how thou keepest vigil sometimes nearly two-thirds of the night, or (sometimes) half or a third thereof, as do a party of those with thee. Allah measureth the night and the day. He knoweth that ye count it not, and turneth unto you in mercy. Recite, then, of the Qur’an that which is easy for you. He knoweth that there are sick folk among you, while others travel in the land in search of Allah’s bounty, and others (still) are fighting for the cause of Allah. So recite of it that which is easy (for you), and establish worship and pay the poor-due, and (so) lend unto Allah a goodly loan. Whatsoever good ye send before you for your souls, ye will find it with Allah, better and greater in the recompense. And seek forgiveness of Allah. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
SHAKIR: Surely your Lord knows that you pass in prayer nearly two-thirds of the night, and (sometimes) half of it, and (sometimes) a third of it, and (also) a party of those with you; and Allah measures the night and the day. He knows that you are not able to do it, so He has turned to you (mercifully), therefore read what is easy of the Quran. He knows that there must be among you sick, and others who travel in the land seeking of the bounty of Allah, and others who fight in Allah’s way, therefore read as much of it as is easy (to you), and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and offer to Allah a goodly gift, and whatever of good you send on beforehand for yourselves, you will find it with Allah; that is best and greatest in reward; and ask forgiveness of Allah; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
KHALIFA: Your Lord knows that you meditate during two-thirds of the night, or half of it, or one-third of it, and so do some of those who believed with you. GOD has designed the night and the day, and He knows that you cannot always do this. He has pardoned you. Instead, you shall read what you can of the Quran. He knows that some of you may be ill, others may be traveling in pursuit of GOD’s provisions, and others may be striving in the cause of GOD. You shall read what you can of it, and observe the contact prayers (Salat), give the obligatory charity (Zakat), and lend GOD a loan of righteousness. Whatever good you send ahead on behalf of your souls, you will find it at GOD far better and generously rewarded. And implore GOD for forgiveness. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

২০। তোমার প্রভু জানেন, যে তুমি কখনও রাতের প্রায় দুই-তৃতীয়াংশ, কখনও অর্দ্ধেক এবং কখনও রাতের এক তৃতীয়াংশ নামাজে দাঁড়িয়ে থাক ৫৭৭১, এবং যারা তোমার সাথে আছে তাদের একদলও [ দাঁড়িয়ে থাকে ]। কিন্তু আল্লাহ্-ই রাত্রি ও দিনকে উপযুক্ত পরিমাণে করেছেন। তিনি জানেন যে, তোমরা ইহা পুরোপুরি পালন করতে পারবে না ৫৭৭২। সুতারাং তিনি তোমাদের প্রতি দয়াপরবশ হয়েছেন কাজেই কুর-আনের যতটুকু আবৃত্তি করা সহজ, ততটুকু আবৃত্তি কর ৫৭৭৩। তিনি জানেন যে, তোমাদের মধ্যে কেহ কেহ অসুস্থ থাকবে, কেহ কেহ আল্লাহ্র অনুগ্রহ সন্ধানে দেশ ভ্রমণ করবে এবং কেহ কেহ আল্লাহ্র পথে সংগ্রামে লিপ্ত থাকবে ৫৭৭৪। কাজেই তোমরা কুর-আন থেকে যতটুকু সহজবোধ্য ততটুকু আবৃত্তি কর। এবং নিয়মিত নামাজ প্রতিষ্ঠা কর, এবং যাকাত প্রদান কর। এবং আল্লাহকে উত্তম ঋণ প্রদান কর ৫৭৭৫। তোমাদের আত্মার [ কল্যাণের ] জন্য ৫৭৭৬ যা কিছু ভালো কাজ অগ্রে প্রেরণ করবে, তোমরা তা আল্লাহ্র নিকটে পাবে। হ্যাঁ, তা হবে উৎকৃষ্টতর এবং পুরষ্কার হিসেবে মহত্তর। আল্লাহ্র করুণা ভিক্ষা কর। নিশ্চয়ই আল্লাহ্ বারে বারে ক্ষমাশীল, পরম করুণাময়। ৫৭৭৭
৫৭৭১। দেখুন পূর্বের আয়াত [ ৭৩ : ২ – ৪ ]। রাসুল (সা) ও তাঁর একান্ত অনুগত অনুসারীবৃন্দ অনেক সময়েই রাত্রির ঘুম ত্যাগ করে রাত্রির দুই তৃতীয়াংশ, অথবা অর্ধাংশ বা এক তৃতীয়াংশ প্রার্থনা এবং কোরাণ তেলাওয়াতে ব্যয় করতেন। অধিকাংশ রাত্রি তাহাজ্জুতের নামাজে ব্যয় করার দরুণ তাদের পদদ্বয় ফুলে যেতো এবং আদেশটি কষ্টসাধ্য প্রতীয়মান হয়। পূর্ণ এক বছর পর এই সূরার শেষাংশ অবতীর্ণ হলে দীর্ঘক্ষণ নামাজে দন্ডায়মান থাকার বাধ্যবাধকতা রহিত হয়ে যায়। যতক্ষণ নামাজ পড়া সহজ মনে হয়, ততক্ষণ নামাজ পড়াই তাহাজ্জুদের জন্য যথেষ্ট। কারণ হিসেবে বলা হয়েছে, যারা অসুস্থ, বা কেহ কার্য উপলক্ষে বিদেশে অবস্থান করলে বা কেহ আল্লাহ্র রাস্তায় সংগ্রামে ব্যস্ত থাকলে তাদের জন্য দীর্ঘক্ষণ তাহাজ্জুদের নামাজ পড়া কষ্টসাধ্য ব্যাপার। সুতারাং তাহাজ্জুদের নামাজকে ‘ফরজ’ নামাজ না করে ব্যক্তির ইচ্ছার উপরে ন্যস্ত করা হয়।
৫৭৭২। ” তিনি জানেন যে তোমরা ইহা পুরোপুরি পালন করতে পারবে না।” আক্ষরিক অর্থে বলা যায় যে সাধারণ মানুষের পক্ষে রাত্রির বিভিন্ন অংশের সঠিক হিসাব রাখা সম্ভব নয়। কারণ দিন ও রাত্রির দৈর্ঘ্য বৎসরের বিভিন্ন সময়ে দিন ও রাত্রির হ্রাস-বৃদ্ধি ঘটে। এই হ্রাস-বৃদ্ধির সঠিক হিসাব রাখা শুধুমাত্র জ্যোতির্বিদদের পক্ষেই সম্ভব, যা সাধারণ মানুষের পক্ষে অসম্ভব ব্যাপার। সুতারাং আল্লাহ্ তা রহিত করে দেন। কিন্তু মওলানা ইউসুফ আলী মনে করেন আয়াতটির অর্থ অত্যন্ত ব্যপক ও গভীর। আল্লাহ্ দিন ও রাত্রিকে সৃষ্টি করেছেন, কাজ ও বিশ্রামের জন্য, যদিও ঋতু চক্রের বিভিন্ন সময়ে দিন ও রাত্রির হ্রাস-বৃদ্ধি ঘটে থাকে। নামাজ ও প্রার্থনার জন্য রাত্রির ক্ষুদ্রাতিক্ষুদ্র পরিবর্তন লক্ষ্য করার প্রয়োজন নাই বা তা করা সম্ভবও নয়। আল্লাহ্র এবাদত বহুভাবেই করা সম্ভব যার বর্ণনা নিম্নে করা হয়েছে। কিন্তু শর্ত হচ্ছে আল্লাহ্র এবাদতের জন্য আমরা কিছুটা সময় ব্যয় করবো যা হবে আন্তরিক এবং আল্লাহ্র প্রতি একান্তভাবে অনুগত এবং সে সময়টি ব্যয় করা আমাদের জন্য হবে সহজ,সুবিধাজনক এবং বিভিন্ন পরিবেশগত সময়ে যেমন স্বাস্থ্যগত কারণে, দেশভ্রমণের সময়ে, বা বিভিন্ন কর্তব্য কর্মে লিপ্ত থাকার সময়ে সে সময় ব্যয় করা মানুষের পক্ষে দুঃসহ বলে মনে না হয়।
৫৭৭৩। ততটুকু আবৃত্তি কর।” কোরাণ পাঠ ধর্মীয় এবাদতের এক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ। এই পাঠ যেনো হয় আনন্দদায়ক, সহজ এবং আনুগত্যের মাধ্যমে। দেখুন সূরা [ ২০ : ২ ] আয়াত যেখানে বলা হয়েছে, ” আপনাকে ক্লেশ দেবার জন্য আমি আপনার প্রতি কোরাণ অবতীর্ণ করি নাই।” সুতারাং কোরাণ পাঠ করতে হবে অর্থ বুঝে, আন্তরিক ভাবে,গভীর আবেগে, একাগ্রভাবে যেনো কোরাণের বাণীর উপদেশ বা হেদায়েত গ্রহণের ক্ষমতা আত্মার মাঝে জন্ম গ্রহণ করে এবং এই বাণীর পরশে হৃদয় হয় আপ্লুত, আলোকিত ও পুলকিত। অর্থ না বুঝে যান্ত্রিক ভাবে শুধুমাত্র আরবী ভাষাতে কোরাণ পাঠে আত্মার মাঝে এই অনুভব লাভ সম্ভব নয়।
৫৭৭৪। ” জিহাদ বা আল্লাহ্র পথে সংগ্রাম ” অধিকাংশের মতামত হচ্ছে যে সূরাটির এই অংশ মুল সূরা অবতীর্ণ হওয়ার বহু পরে মদিনাতে অবতীর্ণ হয়। এই অংশে আনুশাসনিকভাবে সালাত কায়েম করা, যাকাত প্রদান করা এবং আল্লাহকে উত্তম ঋণ প্রদান করার কথা বলা হয়েছে যার থেকে দৃঢ় প্রত্যয় জন্মে সূরাটির এই অংশ মূল সূরার বহু পরে অবতীর্ণ হয়।
৫৭৭৫। দেখুন অনুরূপ আয়াত [ ২ : ২৪৫ ] ও টিকা ২৭৬ যেখানে উত্তম ঋণের অংশটির ব্যাখ্যা প্রদান করা হয়েছে। আরও দেখুন সূরা [ ৫৭ : ১৮ ] আয়াত। ” উত্তম ঋণ ” একটি প্রতীক ধর্মী বাক্য। এই বাক্যটি দ্বারা বুঝানো হয়েছে আল্লাহ্র রাস্তায় কাজ বা আল্লাহ্র সন্তুষ্টিলাভের জন্য কাজ করা। আল্লাহকে উত্তম ঋণ দিতে হবে আমাদেরই আত্মিক কল্যাণের জন্য। আল্লাহ্র তাতে কোনও লাভ নাই। এই ঋণের পরিবর্তে আমরা আল্লাহ্র নিকট থেকে পার্থিব বস্তু পুরষ্কার হিসেবে কামনা করতে পারি না। আল্লাহ্ আমাদের যা পুরষ্কার দিবেন তা হবে পার্থিব বস্তু থেকে বহুগুণে শ্রেষ্ঠ ও উন্নত। বাইবেলের ভাষ্য অনুযায়ী, “Hay up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” [ Matt vi 20]।
৫৭৭৬। পৃথিবীতে আমরা ভালো কাজ যাই-ই করি না কেন সে কাজের ধারাবাহিকতা, আমাদের আল্লাহ্র সম্মুখে জবাবদিহিতার জন্য দাড়াবার পূর্বেই আল্লাহ্র নিকট পৌঁছে যায়। আমরা যা কিছু ভালো কাজ করি তা আমাদের আধ্যাত্মিক মঙ্গল ও সম্মানকে বৃদ্ধি করে থাকে আল্লাহ্র কাছে। এ কথা সর্বদা মনে রাখতে হবে যে, আল্লাহ্র রাস্তায় ব্যয়কৃত আমাদের পরিশ্রম, প্রতিভা, মেধা, মননশক্তি, সৃজন ক্ষমতা,সম্পদ, ক্ষমতা, অর্থাৎ এক কথায় আমরা যাই ব্যয় করি না কেন তার জন্য আল্লাহ্ আমাদের মুখাপেক্ষী নন। কারণ আল্লাহ্ অভাব মুক্ত। আমরা সৎ কাজ বা আল্লাহ্র রাস্তায় কাজ করবো আমাদের আত্মিক উন্নতির জন্য, আধ্যাত্মিক কল্যাণের জন্য যা আমাদের অন্তরকে হৃদয়কে বেহেশতি শান্তিতে ভরিয়ে দেবে।
৫৭৭৭। এই আয়াতটি শেষ করা হয়েছে আল্লাহ্র ক্ষমা ও করুণার উপরে বিশেষ গুরুত্ব আরোপ করে। আমরা যে সৎ কাজই করি না কেন তাতে আমাদের যোগ্যতা খুব কমই থাকে। আল্লাহ্র অনুগ্রহই আমাদের ক্ষুদ্রতা ও অযোগ্যতা অতিক্রম করে আমাদের কাজকে সার্থকতার পথে পরিচালিত করে থাকে। ফলে আমাদের হৃদয়ের গুণরাজি ধীরে ধীরে বিকাশ লাভ করে যা শুধুমাত্র পরম করুণাময়েরই অনুগ্রহ ব্যতীত অন্য কিছু নয়। তিনি আমাদের দোষত্রুটি অপসারণ করে আমাদের সকল কর্মকে বৃহত্তর সাফল্যের দিকে অগ্রসর করিয়ে দেন। এমন কি যখন কোনও মুত্তাকী ব্যক্তি তার খোদাভক্তি সম্বন্ধে গর্বিত হয় সে সেই মূহুর্তে আল্লাহ্র উপরে নির্ভরশীলতা হারিয়ে আত্মপূঁজায় নিমগ্ন হয় যা গর্হিত পাপ। জীবনের সকল অবস্থায়, সুখে, দুঃখে, বিপদে, বিপর্যয়ে, সম্মান, অসম্মানে সেই সর্বশক্তিমানের চরণ তলে বিনয়ের সাথে আত্মনিবেদনই হচ্ছে প্রকৃত ঈমানদারের লক্ষণ।
