এমনিভাবে আপনার পূর্বে আমি যখন কোন জনপদে কোন সতর্ককারী প্রেরণ করেছি, তখনই তাদের বিত্তশালীরা বলেছে, আমরা আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদেরকে পেয়েছি এক পথের পথিক এবং আমরা তাদেরই পদাংক অনুসরণ করে চলছি।
And similarly, We sent not a warner before you (O Muhammad SAW) to any town (people) but the luxurious ones among them said: ”We found our fathers following a certain way and religion, and we will indeed follow their footsteps.”
وَكَذَلِكَ مَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَا إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءنَا عَلَى أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَى آثَارِهِم مُّقْتَدُونَ
Wakathalika ma arsalna min qablika fee qaryatin min natheerin illa qala mutrafooha inna wajadna abaana AAala ommatin wa-inna AAala atharihim muqtadoona
YUSUFALI: Just in the same way, whenever We sent a Warner before thee to any people, the wealthy ones among them said: “We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we will certainly follow in their footsteps.”
PICKTHAL: And even so We sent not a warner before thee (Muhammad) into any township but its luxurious ones said: Lo! we found our fathers following a religion, and we are following their footprints.
SHAKIR: And thus, We did not send before you any warner in a town, but those who led easy lives in it said: Surely we found our fathers on a course, and surely we are followers of their footsteps.
KHALIFA: Invariably, when we sent a warner to any community, the leaders of that community would say, “We found our parents following certain practices, and we will continue in their footsteps.”
২৩। ঠিক একই ভাবে তোমার পূর্বে যখনই কোন স্থানে আমি সর্তককারী প্রেরণ করেছি – তখন উহার ধনবান ব্যক্তিরা বলেছে, ৪৬২৮ ” আমরা আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদের এক নির্ভরযোগ্য ধর্মের অনুসারী পেয়েছি এবং আমরা অবশ্যই তাদের পদচিহ্ন অনুসরণ করবো।”
৪৬২৮। প্রকৃত সত্য হচ্ছে পূর্বপুরুষদের প্রথা মানার মিথ্যা ওজর ছিলো সুবিধাভোগীদের নিজস্ব সুবিধা লাভের কৌশল মাত্র। এ সবের ভিত্তি হচ্ছে মিথ্যা ও মোনাফেকী। পৃথিবীতে যুগে যুগে সুবিধাভোগীরা এ ভাবেই সত্যকে অস্বীকার করে থাকে। পৃথিবীর ধর্মীয় ইতিহাসে এই সত্যের সাক্ষ্য মেলে।
