মানুষকে যখন দুঃখ-কষ্ট স্পর্শ করে, তখন তারা তাদের পালনকর্তাকে আহবান করে তাঁরই অভিমুখী হয়ে। অতঃপর তিনি যখন তাদেরকে রহমতের স্বাদ আস্বাদন করান, তখন তাদের একদল তাদের পালনকর্তার সাথে শিরক করতে থাকে,
And when harm touches men, they cry sincerely only to their Lord (Allâh), turning to Him in repentance, but when He gives them a taste of His Mercy, behold! a party of them associate partners in worship with their Lord.
وَإِذَا مَسَّ النَّاسَ ضُرٌّ دَعَوْا رَبَّهُم مُّنِيبِينَ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ إِذَا أَذَاقَهُم مِّنْهُ رَحْمَةً إِذَا فَرِيقٌ مِّنْهُم بِرَبِّهِمْ يُشْرِكُونَ
Wa-itha massa alnnasa durrun daAAaw rabbahum muneebeena ilayhi thumma itha athaqahum minhu rahmatan itha fareequn minhum birabbihim yushrikoona
YUSUFALI: When trouble touches men, they cry to their Lord, turning back to Him in repentance: but when He gives them a taste of Mercy as from Himself, behold, some of them pay part-worship to other god’s besides their Lord,-
PICKTHAL: And when harm toucheth men they cry unto their Lord, turning to Him in repentance; then, when they have tasted of His mercy, behold! some of them attribute partners to their Lord
SHAKIR: And when harm afflicts men, they call upon their Lord, turning to Him, then when He makes them taste of mercy from Him, lo! some of them begin to associate (others) with their Lord,
KHALIFA: When adversity afflicts the people, they turn to their Lord, totally devoting themselves to Him. But then, as soon as He showers them with mercy, some of them revert to idol worship.
৩৩। মানুষকে যখন দুঃখ কষ্ট স্পর্শ করে তারা তাদের প্রভুকে ডাকে ৩৫৪৫, অনুতপ্ত হয়ে তাঁর নিকট ফিরে আসে। কিন্তু যখন তিনি নিজের পক্ষ থেকে তাদের অনুগ্রহ আস্বাদন করান, দেখো, তাদের অনেকে আল্লাহ্ ব্যতীত অন্য উপাস্যকে অংশীদার করে, –
৩৫৪৫। দেখুন আয়াত [ ১০ : ১২ ]। যখন মানুষের জীবনে দুঃখ-দৈন্য ,বিপর্যয়-দুর্দ্দশা স্পর্শ করে, তখন মানুষ হৃদয়ঙ্গম করে তার অসহায়ত্ব। শুধু তখনই মানুষ এসব থেকে মুক্তি পাওয়ার জন্য স্রষ্টার সাহায্য কামনা করে একাগ্রচিত্তে ,সে উপলব্ধি করতে সক্ষম হয় যে, সকল কল্যাণের এবং সুখ-শান্তির উৎস সেই পরম করুণাময় আল্লাহ্। কিন্তু মানুষকে স্রষ্টা যখন তাঁর অনুগ্রহ দান করেন এবং সে সেই বিপদ-বিপর্যয় থেকে উদ্ধার লাভ করে, তখন অধিকাংশ মানুষের যে মানসিকতা হয় তাই-ই এই আয়াতে বর্ণনা করা হয়েছে। তারা আল্লাহ্র অনুগ্রহকে নিজের বুদ্ধিমত্তা বা রত্ন-পাথরের গুণ বা, গ্রহ-নক্ষত্রের প্রভাবমুক্তি বা মাজারে নিয়ত বা এরূপ বহু মিথ্যা উপাস্যকে অন্তর্ভূক্ত করে থাকে। এ ভাবেই তারা আল্লাহ্র সাথে অংশীদারিত্ব করে থাকে যদিও তারা মুখে আল্লাহ্র কথা বলে থাকে। তাদের এই মনোভাব তাদের আল্লাহ্র প্রতি অকৃতজ্ঞতারই স্বাক্ষর। কারণ তারা আল্লাহ্র অনুগ্রহের উপরে সম্পূর্ণ নির্ভরশীল বলে বিশ্বাস করে না।
