ঈমানদার নারীদেরকে বলুন, তারা যেন তাদের দৃষ্টিকে নত রাখে এবং তাদের যৌন অঙ্গের হেফাযত করে। তারা যেন যা সাধারণতঃ প্রকাশমান, তা ছাড়া তাদের সৌন্দর্য প্রদর্শন না করে এবং তারা যেন তাদের মাথার ওড়না বক্ষ দেশে ফেলে রাখে এবং তারা যেন তাদের স্বামী, পিতা, শ্বশুর, পুত্র, স্বামীর পুত্র, ভ্রাতা, ভ্রাতুস্পুত্র, ভগ্নিপুত্র, স্ত্রীলোক অধিকারভুক্ত বাঁদী, যৌনকামনামুক্ত পুরুষ, ও বালক, যারা নারীদের গোপন অঙ্গ সম্পর্কে অজ্ঞ, তাদের ব্যতীত কারো আছে তাদের সৌন্দর্য প্রকাশ না করে, তারা যেন তাদের গোপন সাজ-সজ্জা প্রকাশ করার জন্য জোরে পদচারণা না করে। মুমিনগণ, তোমরা সবাই আল্লাহর সামনে তওবা কর, যাতে তোমরা সফলকাম হও।
And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like palms of hands or one eye or both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer dress like veil, gloves, head-cover, apron, etc.), and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms, etc.) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband’s fathers, their sons, their husband’s sons, their brothers or their brother’s sons, or their sister’s sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islâm), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allâh to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful[].
وَقُل لِّلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ يَغْضُضْنَ مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِنَّ وَيَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوجَهُنَّ وَلَا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَلْيَضْرِبْنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلَى جُيُوبِهِنَّ وَلَا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا لِبُعُولَتِهِنَّ أَوْ آبَائِهِنَّ أَوْ آبَاء بُعُولَتِهِنَّ أَوْ أَبْنَائِهِنَّ أَوْ أَبْنَاء بُعُولَتِهِنَّ أَوْ إِخْوَانِهِنَّ أَوْ بَنِي إِخْوَانِهِنَّ أَوْ بَنِي أَخَوَاتِهِنَّ أَوْ نِسَائِهِنَّ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُنَّ أَوِ التَّابِعِينَ غَيْرِ أُوْلِي الْإِرْبَةِ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ أَوِ الطِّفْلِ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يَظْهَرُوا عَلَى عَوْرَاتِ النِّسَاء وَلَا يَضْرِبْنَ بِأَرْجُلِهِنَّ لِيُعْلَمَ مَا يُخْفِينَ مِن زِينَتِهِنَّ وَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا أَيُّهَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
Waqul lilmu/minati yaghdudna min absarihinna wayahfathna furoojahunna wala yubdeena zeenatahunna illa ma thahara minha walyadribna bikhumurihinna AAala juyoobihinna wala yubdeena zeenatahunna illa libuAAoolatihinna aw aba-ihinna aw aba-i buAAoolatihinna aw abna-ihinna aw abna-i buAAoolatihinna aw ikhwanihinna aw banee ikhwanihinna aw banee akhawatihinna aw nisa-ihinna aw ma malakat aymanuhunna awi alttabiAAeena ghayri olee al-irbati mina alrrijali awi alttifli allatheena lam yathharoo AAala AAawrati alnnisa-i wala yadribna bi-arjulihinna liyuAAlama ma yukhfeena min zeenatihinna watooboo ila Allahi jameeAAan ayyuha almu/minoona laAAallakum tuflihoona
YUSUFALI: And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband’s fathers, their sons, their husbands’ sons, their brothers or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss.
PICKTHAL: And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest, and to display of their adornment only that which is apparent, and to draw their veils over their bosoms, and not to reveal their adornment save to their own husbands or fathers or husbands’ fathers, or their sons or their husbands’ sons, or their brothers or their brothers’ sons or sisters’ sons, or their women, or their slaves, or male attendants who lack vigour, or children who know naught of women’s nakedness. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And turn unto Allah together, O believers, in order that ye may succeed.
SHAKIR: And say to the believing women that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts and do not display their ornaments except what appears thereof, and let them wear their head-coverings over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments except to their husbands or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their women, or those whom their right hands possess, or the male servants not having need (of women), or the children who have not attained knowledge of what is hidden of women; and let them not strike their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may be known; and turn to Allah all of you, O believers! so that you may be successful.
KHALIFA: And tell the believing women to subdue their eyes, and maintain their chastity. They shall not reveal any parts of their bodies, except that which is necessary. They shall cover their chests, and shall not relax this code in the presence of other than their husbands, their fathers, the fathers of their husbands, their sons, the sons of their husbands, their brothers, the sons of their brothers, the sons of their sisters, other women, the male servants or employees whose sexual drive has been nullified, or the children who have not reached puberty. They shall not strike their feet when they walk in order to shake reveal certain details of their bodies. All of you shall repent to GOD, O you believers, that you may succeed.
৩১। আর বিশ্বাসী নারীদের বল, তারা যেনো তাদের আপন দৃষ্টি সংযত রাখে , আপন লজ্জ্বা স্থানকে রক্ষা করে চলে ২৯৮৪। তারা তাদের সৌন্দর্য ও অলংকারের প্রদর্শনী করবে না ২৯৮৫; ততটুকু ব্যতীত যতটুকু সাধারণতঃ এমনি প্রকাশ পায়। তাদের গ্রীবা ও বক্ষদেশ যেনো চাঁদর দ্বারা আবৃত করে; তারা যেনো তাদের স্বামী , পিতা, শ্বশুর, পুত্র, স্বামীর পুত্র , ভ্রাতা, ভ্রাতুষ্পুত্র, ভগ্নিপুত্র, অথবা তাদের [ সমাজের ] নারীগণ বা তাদের অধীনস্থ গোলাম [ দাসগণ ] অথবা কামপ্রবৃত্তিহীন ভৃত্য অথবা সেই সকল শিশু যারা নারীদের গোপনীয় বিষয় সম্বন্ধে জানে না , এরা ব্যতীত আর কাহারও নিকট তাদের সৌন্দর্য প্রকাশ না করে। তারা যেনো তাদের গোপন অলংকার প্রকাশের উদ্দেশ্যে সজোরে পদক্ষেপ না করে ২৯৮৬। এবং হে বিশ্বাসীগণ ! তোমরা সকলে মিলে একত্রে আল্লাহ্র দিকে প্রত্যাবর্তন কর, তাহলেই তোমরা পরম শান্তি লাভ করবে ২৯৮৭।
২৯৮৪। পুরুষ ও মহিলা উভয়েরই জন্য যৌন সংযম সমভাবে প্রযোজ্য। কিন্তু লিঙ্গ ভেদের জন্য প্রকৃতিগত ভাবে পুরুষ ও মহিলার মধ্য যে পার্থক্য লক্ষ্য করা যায় তার দরুণ সমাজে পুরুষ ও মহিলার মধ্য মেজাজ , মর্জি, যৌন আকাঙ্খার মধ্য পার্থক্য লক্ষ্য করা যায়। সে কারণেই পুরুষ অপেক্ষা মেয়েদের অধিক গোপনীয়তা প্রয়োজন বিশেষভাবে পোষাক পরিচ্ছদ এবং শরীর ঢাকার ব্যাপারে।
২৯৮৫। লিঙ্গভেদে প্রাকৃতিক নিয়ম অনুযায়ী পুরুষের মানসিক ও দৈহিক প্রকৃতি এবং সামাজিক রীতিনীতি অনুযায়ী পুরুষেরা যৌন জীবনে অধিক আগ্রহী দেখা যায়। এটা কিছুটা প্রকৃতির নিয়ম। সে কারণে সামাজিক পবিত্রতা রক্ষার দায়িত্ব ও কর্তব্য পুরুষদের অপেক্ষা মহিলাদের বেশী। সুতারাং পুরুষের বেলায় তাদের কর্তব্য দ্বিবিধ প্রথমতঃ দৃষ্টিকে সংযত রাখতে হবে ও দ্বিতীয়তঃ নিষিদ্ধ যৌন সম্পর্ক ত্যাগ করতে হবে। মহিলাদের বেলাতে এই দায়িত্বকে আরও অধিক করা হয়েছে। তাদের বলা তারা যেনো তাদের সৌন্দর্য্য, আভরণ নিম্নলিখিত ব্যক্তিবর্গ ব্যতীত আর কাউকে প্রদর্শন না করে। এখানে “Zinat” শব্দটির অর্থ স্বাভাবিক সৌন্দর্য এবং অলংকার। এই দুই অর্থই এখানে প্রযোজ্য তবে প্রথম অর্থটি অধিক প্রযোজ্য। যাদের সম্মুখে বের হওয়ার কোনও বাধা নিষেধ থাকবে না তারা হলেনঃ ১) স্বামী ২) স্বামীর নিকট আত্মীয়দের সম্মুখে কিছুটা শিথিলতা অনুমোদন যোগ্য , ৩) মহিলাদের সম্মুখে; ৪) পুরুষ ও মেয়ে ক্রীতদাস ও দাসী; যারা ঘরের মধ্যে কাজ করে। ৫) যৌন আকাঙ্খাহীন পুরুষ যাদের গৃহভ্যন্তরে যাওয়ার অনুমতি আছে এবং ৬) ছোট শিশু যাদের তখনও যৌন আকাঙ্খা হয় নাই। আরও দেখুন [৩৩ : ৫৯ ] আয়াতে দেখুন পর্দ্দা সম্পর্কে যা বলা হয়েছে। অবশ্য ৪) নম্বরের নিষেধাজ্ঞা এখন বাতিল বলে গণ্য , কারণ পৃথিবীতে এখন ক্রীতদাস প্রথা নাই।
২৯৮৬। এই লাইনটিতে নারীকে সাবধান করা হয়েছে তারা যেনো পুরুষের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করার জন্য ছলনার আশ্রয় না করে।
২৯৮৭। যদিও আয়াতগুলিতে গার্হস্থ জীবনকে সুস্থ ও সুরুচীশীল করার উপায় হিসেবে খুঁটিনাটি বর্ণনা করা হয়েছে , কিন্তু আমাদের দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করা হয়েছে এবং স্মরণ করিয়ে দেয়া হয়েছে যে জীবনের উদ্দেশ্য হচ্ছে আধ্যাত্মিক জীবনের পরিশীলন করা। পৃথিবীর ক্ষণস্থায়ী জীবন হচ্ছে পরকালের শিক্ষানবীশ কাল। পরকালের জীবনের সাফল্য ও সুখ শান্তির জন্য, ইহকালের ক্ষুদ্র জীবনের চেষ্টা অপরিহার্য। এই জীবনের ব্যক্তিগত চেষ্টা, পারিবারিক জীবন, সামাজিক কর্মকান্ড সবই সেই পরলোকের জীবনের সফলতার জন্য অনুশীলন মাত্র। আল্লাহ্ তাই বলেছেন, “তাহলেই তোমরা পরম শান্তি লাভ করবে।”
