যুদ্ধে অনুমতি দেয়া হল তাদেরকে যাদের সাথে কাফেররা যুদ্ধ করে; কারণ তাদের প্রতি অত্যাচার করা হয়েছে। আল্লাহ তাদেরকে সাহায্য করতে অবশ্যই সক্ষম।
Permission to fight is given to those (i.e. believers against disbelievers), who are fighting them, (and) because they (believers) have been wronged, and surely, Allâh is Able to give them (believers) victory
أُذِنَ لِلَّذِينَ يُقَاتَلُونَ بِأَنَّهُمْ ظُلِمُوا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى نَصْرِهِمْ لَقَدِيرٌ
Othina lillatheena yuqataloona bi-annahum thulimoo wa-inna Allaha AAala nasrihim laqadeerun
YUSUFALI: To those against whom war is made, permission is given (to fight), because they are wronged;- and verily, Allah is most powerful for their aid;-
PICKTHAL: Sanction is given unto those who fight because they have been wronged; and Allah is indeed Able to give them victory;
SHAKIR: Permission (to fight) is given to those upon whom war is made because they are oppressed, and most surely Allah is well able to assist them;
KHALIFA: Permission is granted to those who are being persecuted, since injustice has befallen them, and GOD is certainly able to support them.

৩৯। যারা যুদ্ধ দ্বারা আক্রান্ত হয়, তাদের [যুদ্ধের ] অনুমতি দেয়া হলো ২৮১৬। কারণ তাদের প্রতি অন্যায় করা হয়েছে। এবং নিশ্চয়ই তাদের সাহায্য করতে আল্লাহ্ প্রচন্ড শক্তিধর;
২৮১৬। যুদ্ধের অনুমতি দেবার কারণ এখানে উল্লেখ ও পরের আয়াতে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে। এই প্রথম যেখানে আত্মরক্ষার জন্য অস্ত্র ধরার অনুমতি দেয়া হয়েছে। সুতারাং নিঃসন্দেহে বলা যায় যে, আয়াতটি মদিনায় অবতীর্ণ।
