আর যখন কোরআন পাঠ করা হয়, তখন তাতে কান লাগিয়ে রাখ এবং নিশ্চুপ থাক যাতে তোমাদের উপর রহমত হয়।
So, when the Qur’ân is recited, listen to it, and be silent that you may receive mercy. [i.e. during the compulsory congregational prayers when the Imâm (of a mosque) is leading the prayer (except Sûrat Al-Fâtiha), and also when he is delivering the Friday-prayer Khutbah]. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol.9, Pages 162-4]

وَإِذَا قُرِىءَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُواْ لَهُ وَأَنصِتُواْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ
Wa-itha quri-a alqur-anu faistamiAAoo lahu waansitoo laAAallakum turhamoona

YUSUFALI: When the Qur’an is read, listen to it with attention, and hold your peace: that ye may receive Mercy.
PICKTHAL: And when the Qur’an is recited, give ear to it and pay heed, that ye may obtain mercy.
SHAKIR: And when the Quran is recited, then listen to it and remain silent, that mercy may be shown to you.
KHALIFA: When the Quran is recited, you shall listen to it and take heed, that you may attain mercy.
