আর যখন তোমরা স্ত্রীদেরকে তালাক দিয়ে দাও এবং তারপর তারাও নির্ধারিত ইদ্দত পূর্ন করতে থাকে, তখন তাদেরকে পূর্ব স্বামীদের সাথে পারস্পরিক সম্মতির ভিত্তিতে নিয়মানুযায়ী বিয়ে করতে বাধাদান করো না। এ উপদেশ তাকেই দেয়া হচ্ছে, যে আল্লাহ ও কেয়ামত দিনের উপর বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করেছে। এর মধ্যে তোমাদের জন্য রয়েছে একান্ত পরিশুদ্ধতা ও অনেক পবিত্রতা। আর আল্লাহ জানেন, তোমরা জান না।
And when you have divorced women and they have fulfilled the term of their prescribed period, do not prevent them from marrying their (former) husbands, if they mutually agree on reasonable basis. This (instruction) is an admonition for him among you who believes in Allâh and the Last Day. That is more virtuous and purer for you. Allâh knows and you know not.
وَإِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَاء فَبَلَغْنَ أَجَلَهُنَّ فَلاَ تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ أَن يَنكِحْنَ أَزْوَاجَهُنَّ إِذَا تَرَاضَوْاْ بَيْنَهُم بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ذَلِكَ يُوعَظُ بِهِ مَن كَانَ مِنكُمْ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ ذَلِكُمْ أَزْكَى لَكُمْ وَأَطْهَرُ وَاللّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ
Wa-itha tallaqtumu alnnisaa fabalaghna ajalahunna fala taAAduloohunna an yankihna azwajahunna itha taradaw baynahum bialmaAAroofi thalika yooAAathu bihi man kana minkum yu/minu biAllahi waalyawmi al-akhiri thalikum azka lakum waatharu waAllahu yaAAlamu waantum la taAAlamoona
YUSUFALI: When ye divorce women, and they fulfil the term of their (‘Iddat), do not prevent them from marrying their (former) husbands, if they mutually agree on equitable terms. This instruction is for all amongst you, who believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is (the course Making for) most virtue and purity amongst you and Allah knows, and ye know not.
PICKTHAL: And when ye have divorced women and they reach their term, place not difficulties in the way of their marrying their husbands if it is agreed between them in kindness. This is an admonition for him among you who believeth in Allah and the Last Day. That is more virtuous for you, and cleaner. Allah knoweth; ye know not.
SHAKIR: And when you have divorced women and they have ended– their term (of waiting), then do not prevent them from marrying their husbands when they agree among themselves in a lawful manner; with this is admonished he among you who believes in Allah and the last day, this is more profitable and purer for you; and Allah knows while you do not know.
KHALIFA: If you divorce the women, once they fulfill their interim, do not prevent them from remarrying their husbands, if they reconcile amicably. This shall be heeded by those among you who believe in GOD and the Last Day. This is purer for you, and more righteous. GOD knows, while you do not know.

২৩২। যখন তোমরা স্ত্রীদের তালাক দাও, এবং তারা তাদের ইদ্দত কাল পূর্ণ করে, তাদের [পূর্ব] স্বামীদের বিয়ে করতে তাদের বাঁধা দিও না ২৬৫, যদি তারা পরস্পর ন্যায় সঙ্গতভাবে সম্মত থাকে। এই উপদেশ তোমাদের মধ্যে যারা আল্লাহ্তে এবং শেষ বিচারের দিনে বিশ্বাস রাখে তাদের সকলের জন্য। এটাই হলো তোমাদের মধ্যে সর্বোচ্চ পূণ্য এবং পবিত্রতা [তৈরির গতিপথ]। এবং আল্লাহ্ তা জানেন তোমরা জান না।
২৬৫। বিবাহ বিচ্ছেদ ইসলামের চোখে অত্যন্ত ঘৃণ্য ব্যাপার। কারণ দাম্পত্য জীবন হচ্ছে সমাজের মূলভিত্তি। এই ভিত্তি দুর্বল হলে পুরো সমাজটাই দুর্বল হয়ে যাবে। সুতরাং বিবাহের বন্ধনকে বহাল রাখার ব্যাপারে ইসলামী জীবন ব্যবস্থা অত্যন্ত যত্নশীল। কিন্তু তাই বলে এমন কথা বলে না যে, স্নেহ, মায়া, ভালবাসা ও সম্মান ছাড়া যে বৈবাহিক জীবন তা যাপন করতেই হবে। তবে ভালবাসা ও সম্মানের উপর ভিত্তি করে যদি সমঝোতা হয় তবে সে বিয়ে টিকিয়ে রাখার ব্যাপারে ইসলাম ধর্মে সর্বাত্মক চেষ্টা করেছে। রাসূলের জীবনকালে একটি ঘটনাকে কেন্দ্র করে এই আয়াত নাজেল হয়। তালাকপ্রাপ্ত স্ত্রীকে পুনঃর্বিবাহে বাঁধা দেওয়া হারাম।
