আপনি তাদেরকে জীবনের প্রতি সবার চাইতে, এমনকি মুশরিকদের চাইতেও অধিক লোভী দেখবেন। তাদের প্রত্যেকে কামনা করে, যেন হাজার বছর আয়ু পায়। অথচ এরূপ আয়ু প্রাপ্তি তাদেরকে শাস্তি থেকে রক্ষা করতে পারবে না। আল্লাহ দেখেন যা কিছু তারা করে।
And verily, you will find them (the Jews) the greediest of mankind for life and (even greedier) than those who – ascribe partners to Allâh (and do not believe in Resurrection – Magians, pagans, and idolaters, etc.). Everyone of them wishes that he could be given a life of a thousand years. But the grant of such life will not save him even a little from (due) punishment. And Allâh is All-Seer of what they do.
وَلَتَجِدَنَّهُمْ أَحْرَصَ النَّاسِ عَلَى حَيَاةٍ وَمِنَ الَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُواْ يَوَدُّ أَحَدُهُمْ لَوْ يُعَمَّرُ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ وَمَا هُوَ بِمُزَحْزِحِهِ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ أَن يُعَمَّرَ وَاللّهُ بَصِيرٌ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ
Walatajidannahum ahrasa alnnasi AAala hayatin wamina allatheena ashrakoo yawaddu ahaduhum law yuAAammaru alfa sanatin wama huwa bimuzahzihihi mina alAAathabi an yuAAammara waAllahu baseerun bima yaAAmaloona
YUSUFALI: Thou wilt indeed find them, of all people, most greedy of life,-even more than the idolaters: Each one of them wishes He could be given a life of a thousand years: But the grant of such life will not save him from (due) punishment. For Allah sees well all that they do.
PICKTHAL: And thou wilt find them greediest of mankind for life and (greedier) than the idolaters. (Each) one of them would like to be allowed to live a thousand years. And to live (a thousand years) would be no means remove him from the doom. Allah is Seer of what they do.
SHAKIR: And you will most certainly find them the greediest of men for life (greedier) than even those who are polytheists; every one of them loves that he should be granted a life of a thousand years, and his being granted a long life will in no way remove him further off from the chastisement, and Allah sees what they do.
KHALIFA: In fact, you will find them the most covetous of life; even more so than the idol worshipers. The one of them wishes to live a thousand years. But this will not spare him any retribution, no matter how long he lives. GOD is seer of everything they do.
৯৬। তুমি তাদের নিশ্চই জীবনের প্রতি, সমস্ত মানুষ এমনকি মুশরিকদের অপেক্ষা অধিক লোভী দেখবে। এদের প্রত্যেকে আকাঙ্খা করে যদি হাজার বৎসর পরমায়ু দেয়া হতো। কিন্তু এরূপ দীর্ঘায়ু তাদের [প্রাপ্য] শাস্তি থেকে রক্ষা করতে পারবে না। কারণ তারা যা করে আল্লাহ্ সব দেখেন।

৯৭। বল, “যে কেউ জিব্রাইলের শত্রু এই জন্য যে, সে ১০১ আল্লাহ্র নির্দেশে তোমার হৃদয়ে [প্রত্যাদেশ] অবতীর্ণ করেছে যা, উহার পূর্ববর্তী কিতাবের সমর্থক এবং যা মুমিনদের জন্য পথ প্রদর্শক ও শুভ সংবাদ।”
১০১। জিব্রাইল (আ) ওহী নিয়ে আগমন করেন, একথা রাসুল্লাহ (সাঃ) এর মুখে শুনে কতক ইহুদী বলতে থাকে, ইনি তো আমাদের শুত্রু: আমাদের সম্প্রদায়ের প্রলয়ঙ্কারী ঘটনাবলী এবং প্রাণান্তকর নির্দেশাবলী তার মাধ্যমেই অবতীর্ণ হয়েছে। পক্ষান্তরে মীকাঈল (আঃ) অত্যন্ত গুণী ফেরেশ্তা, তিনি বৃষ্টি ও রহমতের সাথে জড়িত। তিনি ওহী নিয়ে এলে আমরা তাকে মেনে নিতাম। এটা অবশ্যই একটা ভণ্ডামী – তারা আল্লাহ্র প্রেরিত একজন দূতকে মানবে, অন্য দূতকে প্রত্যাখান করবে, সেটা তো ভণ্ডামীরই লক্ষণ। হযরত মুহাম্মদের [সাঃ] অন্তরে আল্লাহ্র প্রত্যাদেশ পৌঁছে দিয়েছেন জিব্রাইল (আঃ)। আধ্যাত্মিক আলোয় মুহাম্মদের (দঃ) অন্তর আল্লাহ্ আলোকিত করেছেন জিব্রাইলের দ্বারা। সুতরাং জিব্রাইলের বৈশিষ্ট্য না দেখে স্বয়ং কুরআনকে দেখা দরকার এবং দেখা দরকার মানুষ হিসাবে নবী করিমের নিষ্কলুষ, উজ্জ্বল চারিত্রিক গুণাবলী। আমাদের নিরক্ষর নবীর কিতাব পাওয়া, কোনও রকম প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক শিক্ষা ব্যতীত আমাদের নবীর চারিত্রিক গুণাবলী, তার প্রজ্ঞা, জ্ঞান সবই সেই সর্বশক্তিমান আল্লাহ্র অসীম ক্ষমতার ইঙ্গিত বহন করে। সবচেয়ে বড় কথা কোরআন [এর অবস্থান এই যে] সে পূর্ববর্তী আসমানী কিতাব সমূহের সত্যায়ন করে, এবং কিতাবপ্রাপ্ত জাতিদের পথ প্রদর্শন করে ও মুমিনদের সুসংবাদ দেয়। আসমানী কিতাবসমূহের অবস্থা তাই-ই হয়ে থাকে। সুতরাং জিব্রাইলের দোহাই দিয়ে এই আসমানী কিতাবে বিশ্বাস স্থাপন না করার অর্থই হচ্ছে এ সবই ইহুদীদের কপটতা বা ছলনা।
