যার বিনিময়ে তারা নিজেদের বিক্রি করেছে, তা খুবই মন্দ; যেহেতু তারা আল্লাহ যা নযিল করেছেন, তা অস্বীকার করেছে এই হঠকারিতার দরুন যে, আল্লাহ স্বীয় বান্দাদের মধ্যে যার প্রতি ইচ্ছা অনুগ্রহ নাযিল করেন। অতএব, তারা ক্রোধের উপর ক্রোধ অর্জন করেছে। আর কাফেরদের জন্য রয়েছে অপমানজনক শাস্তি।
How bad is that for which they have sold their ownselves, that they should disbelieve in that which Allâh has revealed (the Qur’ân), grudging that Allâh should reveal of His Grace unto whom He will of His slaves. So they have drawn on themselves wrath upon wrath. And for the disbelievers, there is disgracing torment.
بِئْسَمَا اشْتَرَوْاْ بِهِ أَنفُسَهُمْ أَن يَكْفُرُواْ بِمَا أنَزَلَ اللّهُ بَغْياً أَن يُنَزِّلُ اللّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ عَلَى مَن يَشَاء مِنْ عِبَادِهِ فَبَآؤُواْ بِغَضَبٍ عَلَى غَضَبٍ وَلِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ
Bi/sama ishtaraw bihi anfusahum an yakfuroo bima anzala Allahu baghyan an yunazzila Allahu min fadlihi AAala man yashao min AAibadihi fabaoo bighadabin AAala ghadabin walilkafireena AAathabun muheenun
YUSUFALI: Miserable is the price for which they have sold their souls, in that they deny (the revelation) which Allah has sent down, in insolent envy that Allah of His Grace should send it to any of His servants He pleases: Thus have they drawn on themselves Wrath upon Wrath. And humiliating is the punishment of those who reject Faith.
PICKTHAL: Evil is that for which they sell their souls: that they should disbelieve in that which Allah hath revealed, grudging that Allah should reveal of His bounty unto whom He will of His slaves. They have incurred anger upon anger. For disbelievers is a shameful doom.
SHAKIR: Evil is that for which they have sold their souls– that they should deny what Allah has revealed, out of envy that Allah should send down of His grace on whomsoever of His servants He pleases; so they have made themselves deserving of wrath upon wrath, and there is a disgraceful punishment for the unbelievers.
KHALIFA: Miserable indeed is what they sold their souls for – rejecting these revelations of GOD out of sheer resentment that GOD should bestow His grace upon whomever He chooses from among His servants. Consequently, they incurred wrath upon wrath. The disbelievers have incurred a humiliating retribution.
৯০। তা হচ্ছে কত নিকৃষ্ট মূল্য যার বিনিময়ে তারা তাদের আত্মাকে বিক্রী করেছে – উহা এই যে, আল্লাহ্ যে প্রত্যাদেশ প্রেরণ করেছেন প্রতিহিংসায় উম্মত্ত হয়ে তারা তা অস্বীকার করে, এই কারণে যে, আল্লাহ্ তাঁর বান্দাদের মধ্যে যার প্রতি ইচ্ছা স্বীয় অনুগ্রহ দান করে থাকেন ৯৫। এভাবে তারা ক্রোধের উপর ক্রোধ আকর্ষণ করেছে। যারা ঈমানকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করে তাদের জন্য আছে অপমানজনক শাস্তি।
৯৫। জাতিগত শ্রেষ্ঠত্ববোধ, অন্ধ অহংকার, উদ্ধত দৃষ্টিভঙ্গী ইহুদীদের কুরআনের সত্যকে গ্রহণ করতে বাঁধা দান করেছে। কারণ, কুরআন এবং হযরত মুহম্মদ (দঃ) তাদের জাতির বাইরের একজন। তাদের ধ্যান-ধারণা অনুযায়ী একমাত্র তারাই শ্রেষ্ঠ জাতি। সুতরাং আল্লাহ্র কিতাব পাওয়ার অধিকারী একমাত্র তারাই। এখানে সার্বজনীন উপদেশ হচ্ছে, জাতিগত শ্রেষ্ঠত্বের (Racial arrogance) দাবী তা কি আজকের পৃথিবীতে অনুপস্থিত? অনুপস্থিত নয়, আমরা পৃথিবীর বিভিন্ন জাতির মধ্যে এই বিকৃত মানসিকতার সন্ধান পাই। বিকৃত এই জন্য যে এ ধরণের দৃষ্টিভঙ্গী আল্লাহ্র খুব অপছন্দ। আজকের পৃথিবীতে মৌলবাদী মুসলমানদের আমরা ঐ ইহুদীদের মতই দাবী করতে দেখি যে, মুসলমান নামের দরুণই আমরা বেহেশ্তে যাব। অন্য সব ধর্মের লোকেরা দোযখে যাবে। কিন্তু [২:৬২] আয়াতে আল্লাহ্ পরিষ্কারভাবে ঘোষণা করেছেন যে, যে কেউ একত্ববাদে বিশ্বাসী এবং পৃথিবীর কাজকর্মের জন্য পরকালের জবাবদিহিতাতে বিশ্বাস করবে এবং স্রষ্টার সৃষ্টির সেবার জন্য সৎ কাজ করবে সেই বেহেশ্তের অধিকারী হবে। এখানে কোনও নির্দিষ্ট জাতি বা গোষ্ঠীর কথা বলা হয় নাই।
সুতরাং মানুষ কিভাবে সীমানা নির্ধারণ করে, কে বেহেশ্তে যাবে আর কে যাবে না? আল্লাহ্ এই বিশাল বিশ্বভূবনের মালিক। তিনিই এর নিয়ন্তা, পরিচালক ও পালনকর্তা। বেহেশ্ত দোযখের সীমা নির্ধারণ করার ক্ষমতা একমাত্র তাঁরই। সুতরাং এভাবে যারা আল্লাহ্র আদেশ লঙ্ঘন করে তারা ইহুদী, খৃষ্টান বা মুসলিম যে সম্প্রদায়েরই হোক না কেন তারা সবাই আল্লাহ্র রোষানলে পতিত হবে।
