তিনি বললেনঃ না, তিনিই তোমাদের পালনকর্তা যিনি নভোমন্ডল ও ভুমন্ডলের পালনকর্তা, যিনি এগুলো সৃষ্টি করেছেন; এবং আমি এই বিষয়েরই সাক্ষ্যদাতা।
He said: ”Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them and of that I am one of the witnesses.
قَالَ بَل رَّبُّكُمْ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ الَّذِي فَطَرَهُنَّ وَأَنَا عَلَى ذَلِكُم مِّنَ الشَّاهِدِينَ
Qala bal rabbukum rabbu alssamawati waal-ardi allathee fatarahunna waana AAala thalikum mina alshshahideena
YUSUFALI: He said, “Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth).
PICKTHAL: He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that.
SHAKIR: He said: Nay! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who brought them into existence, and I am of those who bear witness to this:
KHALIFA: He said, “Your only Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them. This is the testimony to which I bear witness.
৫৬। সে বলেছিলো, ” না, তোমাদের প্রভু তো আকাশমন্ডলী ও পৃথিবীর প্রভু, যিনি উহাদের [ শূন্য থেকে ] সৃষ্টি করেছেন। এবং আমি এই [ সত্যের ] একজন সাক্ষী।
৫৭। “আল্লাহ্র শপথ, তোমরা পিছন ফিরে চলে গেলে তোমাদের মূর্তিগুলি সম্বন্ধে আমার পরিকল্পনা আছে ২৭১৭। ”
২৭১৭। হযরত ইব্রাহীম তাঁর সম্প্রদায়ের নিকট মূর্তিপূঁজার অসারতা ও মূর্তিদের ক্ষমতাহীনতা প্রমাণ করতে চেয়েছিলেন। কিন্তু তিনি তা গোপনে বা শঠতাপূর্ণ উপায়ে করতে চান নাই। সে কারণে তিনি বলেছিলেন যে, “তোমরা চলে গেলে তোমাদের মূর্তিগুলির সম্বন্ধে আমার পরিকল্পনা আছে ” এই বাক্য দ্বারা এই মনোভাবেরই প্রকাশ পায় যে মূর্তিগুলি তাঁর সম্প্রদায়ের লোকদের রক্ষণাবেক্ষনের দ্বারা নির্ভরশীল। তাদের অবর্তমানে হযরত ইব্রাহীম তাদের ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করবেন। সম্ভবতঃ ইব্রাহীমের এই উক্তি তাঁর সম্প্রদায়ের লোকেরা হাল্কাভাবে গ্রহণ করে এবং তারা দেখতে চেয়েছিলো যে, দেখা যাক ইব্রাহীম কি করেন। তাদের ধারণারও বাইরে ছিলো যে তাদের বংশ পরম্পরায় পূজিত মূর্তির গায়ে হাত দিতে কেউ সাহস করবে। সুতারাং তারা ইব্রাহীমকে সেখানে রেখে যায়।
