দাতব্যমিতি য়দ্দানং দীয়তেঽনুপকারিণে ।
দেশে কালে চ পাত্রে চ তদ্দানং সাত্ত্বিকং স্মৃতম্ ॥ ১৭-২০॥

দাতব্যং = worth giving
ইতি = thus
য়ত্ = that which
দানং = charity
দীয়তে = is given
অনুপকারিণে = irrespective of return
দেশে = in a proper place
কালে = at a proper time
চ = also
পাত্রে = to a suitable person
চ = and
তত্ = that
দানং = charity
সাত্ত্বিকং = in the mode of goodness
স্মৃতং = is considered.
