সত্ত্বং সুখে সঞ্জয়তি রজঃ কর্মণি ভারত ।
জ্ঞানমাবৃত্য তু তমঃ প্রমাদে সঞ্জয়ত্যুত ॥ ১৪-৯॥

সত্ত্বং = the mode of goodness
সুখে = in happiness
সঞ্জয়তি = binds
রজঃ = the mode of passion
কর্মাণি = in fruitive activity
ভারত = O son of Bharata
জ্ঞানং = knowledge
আবৃত্য = covering
তু = but
তমঃ = the mode of ignorance
প্রমাদে = in madness
সঞ্জয়তি = binds
উত = it is said.
